This Archives section, is dedicated to the history of 31 Squadron, from the beginning of the 2nd world war to its end in 1946.
The images below are a brief insight into what is contained as you progress through the section from pictures of Beaufighters and life at the airfields, to images of the operational logs detailing the operations of the day and the missions undertaken.

We would like to express our thanks to members of 31 Squadron and their families and friends for their contributions to this web site…

“In company of honourable men”…

Researching the lives of members of 31 Sqdn has been an interesting and rewarding endeavour. Their stories contain humour, hardships, danger, courage, compassion, mate-ship, and above all, honour.

After the war, their stories tell of awards of O.A.M.’s (quite a few), a K.B.E., an M.B.E. and many other community awards. Their strength of character and resilience carried on.

As age takes them from us, we attend funerals where families tell us more about them. Their families all show how they were deeply loved and respected.   Sons, daughters, grandchildren, nephews and nieces, tell us what great role models they were, and of their great respect for them…..truly they were honourable men

Some of the original Squadron members are still alive today………to them, and to the ones that aren’t,  LEST WE FORGET
